As a part of our commitment to the development of Aboriginal people KingKira Group proudly sponsored the 2022 WA Mining Club Indigenous Upskilling Scholarship. The purpose of the Indigenous Upskilling Scholarship is to support further development of Indigenous professionals already working in the mining industry.
From six outstanding applicants, three finalists were chosen: Shayne Campbell, Ashley Marino and Milarli Taylor.
KingKira Group General Manager Geoff Selfe attended the WA Mining Club Scholarship where each finalist was presented with congratulations and the scholarship was awarded to Milarli Taylor.
Milarli is a Yamaji Badjimaya man from Port Hedland. He works full time as a Graduate in Technology for BHP, where he has been exposed to a number of opportunities to learn and participate in BHP’s technology sector, including BHP’s Cloud Computing. Milarli will be using the scholarship to participate in a 24-week part time data analytics study program offered by UWA. He hopes that he can use his skills and knowledge to persuade and help more Indigenous people pursue jobs in technology.
