Overview

Kingkira Group Pty Ltd is a 100% Aboriginal owned business providing a range of fully integrated support services to the mining, oil and gas, construction, municipal and commercial sectors.

“Our land” forms the basis of our ethos and vision; and all that we do is driven by a passion to both protect the environment and to provide opportunity and purpose to the communities and lands on which we operate.

Kingkira Group is wholly owned and operated by Tammy O’Connor, a traditional owner from the Pilbara region with family connection through the Nyiyaparli and Palyku Aboriginal groups, and links to Kariyarra and Ngarluma people on her grandmother’s side. The business name “Kingkira” reflects Tammy’s daughter’s names Kingston and Shakira.

Having been brought up in the Pilbara region residing in Marble Bar, Tammy has a wealth of knowledge and insight of local community issues and native title, providing education and guidance to help communities and business achieve sustainable development. Tammy studied at various institutions and has worked remotely on mines sites and in communities to continually build her knowledge and business skill set.

Established in early 2014, Kingkira has experienced organic growth through a simple strategic vision; “to provide development opportunities for Aboriginal people, and in parallel manage all aspects of the land in which the business operates to maintain a sustainable future”.

Kingkira acknowledges the owners of the land in which it operates. We strive to work together with our local neighbours to achieve common goals, provide sustainable long term solutions, create opportunities through training, development and business for future generations and to seek new ideas and do them differently.

KingKira Group Pty Ltd (KingKira) is owned and operated by Tammy O’Connor. Tammy has a family connection to her country through the Nyiyaparli and Palyku Aboriginal people, and links to the Kariyarra and Ngarluma people on her grandmother’s side.

The business name “KingKira” represents Tammy’s daughters names Kingston and Shakira.

Having been brought up in the Pilbara region, and residing in Marble Bar, Tammy has a wealth of knowledge and insight of local community and native title. She provides education and guidance to help communities and business achieve sustainable development. Tammy has studied at various institutions and worked remotely on mines sites and in communities to continually build her business knowledge and skills.

Over the years, Tammy has gained an extensive knowledge of local community, native title, land and social issues and has become the routine “go to” resource for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal groups seeking expert advice in all social enterprise matters.

KingKira Wins AEMEE New Indigenous Business of the Year


KingKira Group was awarded the 2019 AEMEE National New Indigenous Business of the Year award at the AMEE Conference in Darwin. The award recognises a start up business (less than 3 years in operation) that has successfully introduced its services to the resources sector and can demonstrate the potential for significant and sustainable growth.

Having worked in the mining industry for a number of years, Tammy has capitalised on her experiences in other businesses to set up KingKira Group. She is also a passionate advocate for the training, development and mentoring of Aboriginal people starting their own businesses.
