As a part of our commitment to the development of Aboriginal people KingKira Group proudly sponsored the 2023 WA Mining Club Indigenous Upskilling Scholarship for the second year running.
The purpose of the Indigenous Upskilling Scholarship is to support further development of Indigenous professionals already working in the mining industry.
From the outstanding applicants, three finalists were chosen: Shontaye Kickett, Melissa Combo and Paige James.
General Manager Geoff Selfe attended the WA Mining Club Scholarship Dinner on behalf of KingKira Group where the scholarship was awarded to Paige James.
Paige is a Wongi/Yamatji Bidjara women from the Goldfields. Paige will be using the scholarship to help support herself while she completes her full-time study in her Bachelor of Science (Major Environmental and Conservation Sciences).
Paige’s desire is to complete her degree and return to country to continue working for her community and providing education to the mining industry about country.
